Green hydrogen – generated carbon-neutrally from renewable electricity – offers great potential, especially for Baden-Württemberg as an industrial and technology location. To leverage this, the Ministry of the Environment has drawn up a roadmap for establishing a hydrogen economy in Baden-Württemberg. This roadmap was supplemented by further fields of action in the first progress report 2023.

Hydrogen and fuel cell technologies will play a key role in the further transformation of energy systems and a far-reaching switch to innovative and low-emission technologies. With the funding programs "Future Program Hydrogen BW" and "Model Region Green Hydrogen", the state is helping to establish a sustainable hydrogen economy in Baden-Württemberg.

The new hydrogen platform H2BW is intended to provide a visible and cross-sectoral umbrella for Baden-Württemberg's many hydrogen and fuel activities. The focus of the tasks lies on implementing the measures of the hydrogen roadmap, which describes the country's path to becoming a leading location for hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.
