By the joint project of the state of Baden-Württemberg and the Institute for Sanitary Engineering, Water Quality and Solid Waste Management (ISWA), University of Stuttgart the Serbian, the municipality of Stara Pazova is supported to carry out a wastewater measurement campaign. As an outcome of this project, the involved Serbian decision makers will be able to make a right decisions concerning the wastewater treatment technology to be used on-site. The project is a follow up of the previous project “Analysis of the wastewater, biomass and energy management in the municipalities of Stara Pazova and Indjija, Serbia”.
In order to create a comprehensive database at the beginning of the planning process, it is of curtail importance to evaluate wastewater quality and quality as well as to perform the investigation and assessment of the local climate and spatial data.
The selection of suitable wastewater management concepts and the implementation of adjusted technologically suitable solutions is not an easy task. During the planning process all relevant local conditions must be taken into consideration. Therefore, it is very important to have precise information on wastewater quality and quantity of the location of interest. Without an adequate database for the planning process, there is a risk that a newly built wastewater treatment plants will be under- or oversized. This may lead to insufficient purification performance or increased costs.
Until now, there had been insufficient experience in Serbia how the wastewater measurement campaign should be planned, conducted and finally results assessed. For this reason, ISWA, University of Stuttgart provides following support:
- Advising a municipality on performing a wastewater measurement campaign
- Discussing suitable measurement locations
- Providing reference on a measurement campaign conduction and the analytics
- Evaluation of results as a planning basis for the wastewater conceptual solutions.
The measurement campaign will be conducted by Serbian partner and is being financed by the municipality of Stara Pazova and the state of Baden-Württemberg. ISWA is contributing with its expertise for planning and conduction of a wastewater measurement campaign. The project runs for eight months and will end on 31st December 2014.
The Project “Support for the planning and performance of a measurement campaign as well as evaluation of data as the basis of a waste water plan in Stara Pazova, Serbia” is a follow up project of the project “Analysis of the wastewater, biomass and energy management in the municipalities of Stara Pazova and Indjija, Serbia”. In this project, conceptual solution for linking wastewater, biomass and energy management sector is proposed.
