Dr. Andre Baumann

Dr. Andre Baumann, Staatssekretär im Ministerium für Umwelt, Klima und Energiewirtschaft.

Dr. Andre Baumann was born in Heidelberg in 1973 and grew up in Schwetzingen where he still lives today with his family. He studied biology at the University of Marburg and majored in nature conservation and ecology. Parallel to this, Dr. Baumann MdL also studied for a second major in law, but did not complete this degree. The graduate biologist received his doctorate from the University of Regensburg.

During this time and the years that followed, he also worked as a lecturer for nature conservation at various universities.

From 2007 to 2016, he was the full-time Regional Chairman of the Nature and Biodiversity Coservative Union (NABU) Baden-Württemberg, the largest environmental organization in Baden-Württemberg.

From May 2016 to January 2020, he was State Secretary in the Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection and Energy Sector of the State of Baden-Württemberg, then from February 2020 to May 2021 State Secretary in the Baden-Wuerttemberg State Ministry and Authorised Representative of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg at the Federal Government. In the regional elections in 2021, he was elected to the Parliament of Baden-Württemberg as a directly elected member of the Parliament for the Schwetzingen constituency.

Since May 2021, Dr. Baumann MdL is again State Secretary in the Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection and Energy Sector of the State of Baden-Württemberg.
