Statutory nuclear inspectorate

Nuclear energy and radioactivity

The Ministry of the Environment, Climate Protection and the Energy Sector is Baden-Württemberg’s statutory nuclear inspectorate. Its task is to monitor whether nuclear power plants and other nuclear installations in Baden-Württemberg are being run safely. The Ministry also monitors radioactivity in the environment. On the sensitive issue of nuclear safety, the energy policy stresses information and openness. Learn more on the following pages about the work of the authority, the basic principles of nuclear energy monitoring and the supply and disposal of radioactive waste. You will also find up-to-date information on reportable events and an over-view of the nuclear power plants in the state and in neighbouring countries.
