Dr. Andre Baumann
Dr. Andre Baumann was born in Heidelberg in 1973 and grew up in Schwetzingen where he still lives today with his family. He studied biology at the University of Marburg and majored in nature conservation and ecology. Parallel to this, Baumann also studied for a second major in law, but did not complete this degree. The graduate biologist received his doctorate from the University of Regensburg.
In May of 2016, he was appointed as state secretary in the Ministry of the Environment, Climate Protection, and Energy Sector of the state of Baden-Württemberg. Before that he had assumed various positions in environmental organizations. From 2007 to 2016, Baumann was the full-time Regional Chairman of the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU) Baden-Württemberg, the largest environmental organization in Baden-Württemberg.
After his doctoral studies, Dr. Andre Baumann was a research associate at the University of Regensburg, where he is still a member of the faculty for nature conservation and ecology. From 2005 to 2007, Baumann was deputy head of the Institute for Agro-ecology and Biodiversity (IFAB) in Mannheim. Baumann was a lecturer for nature conservation at various universities.
Dr. Andre Baumann is a member of various associations including the BUND (Friends of the Earth Germany), German Alpine Club, NABU, and Swabian Alb Club.
